Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.
10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.
Arlington shuts down Seniors West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Al Goebel - March 28, 2012

Alphonse A. “Al” Goebel, 93 years, of Fremont, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at the Pathfinder House in Fremont.
He is survived by sons, Larry Goebel and Lloyd Goebel, both of Hooper; daughters, Jean and husband, John Engelbart of West Point, and Jan and husband, Bob Walraven of Hooper; step-sons, The Rev. James and wife, Linda Miller of Seward, Jeff and wife, Iantha Miller of Columbus, Larry Miller and wife, Dr. Nancy Phillips of Warren, N.J.; step-daughter, Linda and husband, Dan Thiesen of Cedar Bluffs; sisters, Leona Kasik of Norfolk and Louise and husband, Orion Shulzkump of West Point; 8 grandchildren, Sue Morris, Jim and wife, Lisa Goebel, Becky Goebel, Rhonda and husband, Paul Heimann, Jacob and wife, Lori Lanz, Tim and wife, Heather Walraven, Jenna and Jared Walraven; 14 great-grandchildren, Corina and husband, Jeff Goossen, Angela and husband, Karl Pittmann, Ashley Miller, Alyssa Fredrickson, Ryan Miller, Tyler and Zander Goebel, Kora and Ava Walraven, Ellie Morehouse, LaDonna, Ronie, Michelle and Isaiah Lanz; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Chase, Dylan and Mylee Goossen and Kyra Cordell; 10 step grandchildren, Dr. Kristina and husband, Dr. Joseph Ursick, Rachel and husband, Andy Gower, Andrew Miller, Jason and Jordan Thiesen, Justin and wife, Tami Thiesen, Dane, McKinzie, Hans and Hunter Miller; and 5 step great-grandchildren, Soren and Ronan Ursick, Taylor and Jaxson Thiesen and Bennett Gower.
Funeral Mass was Saturday, March 24, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Hooper. Father Damien Wee officiated. Burial was at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery at Hooper.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to Care Corps.
Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 North Somers, Fremont, was in charge of arrangements.
