Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Abigail Hughes - April 04, 2012

Funeral services for Abigail E. Hughes, age 15, of West Point, will be on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Nielsen Community Center in West Point. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue from noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the Nielsen Community Center. Interment will be on Saturday, April 7, 2012, in the Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery in Coal Co., Okla.
Abbie passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Survivors include her parents, Dan and Jlynn Hughes of West Point; grandparents, Trudy Boland of West Point, Macon Hughes of Ada, Okla.; brother, Aaron Hughes of West Point; sisters, her identical twin Annie Hughes of West Point and Arielle Hughes of West Point; half-sister, Angie and husband Mikeal Walker of Norman, Okla., and their children Baylee and son Evan Ryan; aunts and uncles Pat Hughes of Guthrie, Okla., Rena Hughes of Las Vegas, Nev., Jeff Keesling of Sylvia, Kan., Tammy Moss of Moore, Okla., and Karla Cruz of Hutchinson, Kan.
Minnick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
