Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Elinor Parker - April 18, 2012
Funeral services for Elinor Elizabeth Parker, 83, were Friday, April 13, 2012, at Overland Park Church of Christ in Kansas. Interment was in Butte Cemetery, Butte.She is survived by nine children: Harlan C. Parker (Vickie) of Olathe, KS, Judy K. Franklin (Jim) of Overland Park, KS, Jane Schumann of Olathe, KS, Colleen E. Rader (Steve) of Lexington, Rusty Parker (Deneil) of Wayne, Lee Parker (Lori) of Beemer, Michael D. Parker (Anita) of Houston, TX, Ron A. Parker of Winner, SD, and Lisa Bedrique of Overland Park, KS; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
She died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Franklin Hospital in Benton, IL.
