Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Donald Maack - April 25, 2012
Memorial services for Donald L. Maack, age 87, of West Point, were Thursday, April 26, 2012, at the Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Interment with Military Honors was by West Point V.F.W. Post #4912 in the Mount Hope Cemetery at West Point. Don passed away Sat., April 21, 2012 at his home.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point or a favorite charity.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey; his sons, Karl of West Point, and Kurt (Joan) of Omaha; his two granddaughters, Laura Maack (Aaron) Beshaler of Kansas City, Mo., and Emily Maack of Tulsa, Okla. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends also survive him.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
