Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Alfred Tschopp - April 25, 2012
Funeral services for Alfred J. Tschopp, Pastor EM, age 82 of West Point, were on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Point. Interment was in the Linwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday, April 21, 2012.Mr. Tschopp passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Scribner.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Barry of Yuba City, Calif., and children Melissa Nascinento and husband Tommy and children of Yuba City, and Christine Cahill of Yuba City; daughter, Patricia King of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son, Timothy Tschopp and wife Betty of Northridge, Calif.; daughter, Patricia Clark and husband William of Matteson, Ill. and daughters, Jennifer and Roberta Clark; brothers, Oscar Tschopp of Sierra Madre, Calif., and Paul Tschopp of Seymour, Conn.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
