Family characteristics are often evident as sons and fathers gather for photos, when they speak, or in their actions.
Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.

10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award
Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.

Arlington shuts down Seniors
West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Leona K. Engelmeyer, 89, of West Point, died Monday, April 30, 2012, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. A funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 3, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Rev. Frank Lordemann will officiate with burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be until 5 p.m. Wed., May 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Central Catholic Schools.
Leona Kathryn Engelmeyer was born Jan. 19, 1923, in West Point, to Chris a Leona is survived by sons, Bob (Mary) of West Point, Gerald of Omaha, Tom (Mary) of West Point and Ron (Deb) of Bloomington, Ill.; daughter, Nancy (Bryan) Knobbe of West Point; sister, Lori Casarietti of Newbury Park, Calif.; sister in law, Mildred Grant of Cherokee, Iowa; grandchildren Rick (Marla) Engelmeyer, Mark (Lisa) Haase, Russ Engelmeyer all of West Point, Pat (Carrie) Coons of Omaha, Jenny (Chris) Allie of Georgia, Beth (Brent) Frerichs of Lincoln, Eric (Kassidy) Knobbe of Lincoln, Bryce (Jessica) Knobbe of Kentucky, Allyn (fiancé Heather Beutler) Knobbe of West Point, Kelsey Knobbe of Lincoln, Emily Knobbe of West Point and Dylan Engelmeyer of Bloomington, Ill.; and 13 great-grandchildren.
