Family characteristics are often evident as sons and fathers gather for photos, when they speak, or in their actions.
Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.

10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award
Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.

Arlington shuts down Seniors
West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Wilmer Koehler, 86, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Oakland Heights in Oakland. A memorial service was Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. Rev. Mark Eldal officiated. Burial will be at a later date. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; sisters, Loraine Koehler and Lois Metzger.Survivors include sons, Warren (Deborah) of La Vista, Kevin (Sonia) of Sioux Center, Iowa; daughters, Kaylene (Gary “Bird”) Swanson of Oakland, Vivian (Perry) Chandler of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Jeramie Swanson, Jamie Swanson, Chris Johnson, Stephen Koehler, Andrew Koehler, Martin Koehler and Wendy Koehler; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Draube of Sioux City, Iowa, Mildred Toelle of West Point; brothers-in-law, La Vern Metzger of Clovis, N.M., Myron Heise of New York, N.Y.; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials are suggested to the Orphan Grain Train, PO Box 1466, Norfolk, NE 68702-1466.
Pelan Funeral services was in charge of arrangements.
