Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Rosa Bennett - May 30, 2012
Funeral services for Rosa Bennett, 97, of Wisner, were Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment will be on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City, IA.Rosa passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the Wisner Care Center.
Survivors include sons, Bernard and wife Lorna Bennett of Paullina, IA,
and Larry and wife Linda Bennett of Rotonda, FL; daughter, Viola and
husband Melvin Schroeder of Wisner; daughter-in-law, Vivian Bennett of
North Platte; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great
grandchildren; brother, Gus and wife Bertha Hinrich of California;
sisters, Elsie Jepsen of Emerson, Stella Limerick of Sioux City, IA, and
Lucy Suhr of Auburn.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
