Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Ruby Kirchmann - June 06, 2012
Ruby Kirchmann, 96, of Scribner, formerly of Hooper, died Sunday June 3, 2012, at the Scribner Good Samaritan Center. Private graveside services will be held at the Hooper Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to the Scribner Good Samaritan Center.
Survivors include three sons, Roland Kirchmann of Hooper, LeRoy Kirchmann of Hooper, Ferdinand and wife Ann Kirchmann of West Point; daughter, Sherry and husband Roger Norder of Golden, Mo.; two granddaughters, Melissa Wild and friend Tom Wharff of Scribner and Amy Wild and friend Dave Kumm of Fremont; grandson, Jeff Kirchmann and fiancé Elisha Lenhart of Winside; and great-granddaughter, Madelyn.
Ludvigsen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
