Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Chris Sandquist - June 13, 2012
Chris Henry Sandquist, 57, of Lincoln, formerly of Lyons, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at his home in Lincoln after battling a long illness.A funeral service was Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Pelan Funeral Home in Lyons. Rev. Steven Hoden officiated.
Memorials may be made to Nebraska Children’s Home Society, 4939 S. 118th St., Omaha, NE 68137.
Survivors include his father, Lester Sandquist of Lyons; sister, Beverly (George) Cook of Kingswood, Texas, Sandra (Gayle) Posvar of Lyons; brothers, Roy (Elaine) Leibbrandt of Chadron, Gary (Lori) Leibbrandt of Wilsonville, Jerry Gilmore of Springfield, Mo.; son, Matthew Ellicott of Waverly; stepchildren, Lori Hicks, Glen Alfrey and Robert Bradley all of Colorado; special friend, Terri Click of Lincoln; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews who adored him.
Pelan Funeral Services was in charge of arrangements.
