Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

John Hanzlik - June 13, 2012
Funeral services for John R. Hanzlik, age 61, of Wisner, were Friday, June 8, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Interment with military honors was in the Wisner Cemetery.Minnick Funeral Home, Wisner was in charge of arrangements.
John passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Hanzlik of Wisner; children, Jessi and husband Art Ford of Valley, and the child they’re expecting, Miranda and husband Mike Coss of North Port, Fla., and sons, Pvt. 2nd Class Taylor Coss stationed at Schoefield Barracks, Hawaii and Ethan Coss will be stationed at Fort Benning, Ga.; mother, Rose Hanzlik of Wisner; brothers and sisters, Francis and wife Rilla Hanzlik of Clearwater, Rosalie Eklund of Omaha, Dave and wife Linda Hanzlik of Omaha, Dorothy and husband Doug Glaubius of Wisner, Steve Hanzlik of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
