Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Richard H. Ernesti, 79, of Dodge died June 6, 2012 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. A funeral Mass was Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Aloys. Rev. Frank Lordemann officiated. Burial with military honors followed at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Stokely Funeral Home in West Point was is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Aloysius Cemetery in Aloys.
He is survived by sons, Don (Wendy) Ernesti of Wisner, and Brian Ernesti of Dodge; daughters, Donna (Kurt) Brester of Dodge, Diane (Marvin) Ulrich of West Point, and Bonnie Kluthe of Kearney; mother, Mary Ernesti of Dodge; grandchildren, Chad and Justine Ernesti, Matthew and Mitchell Brester, Rachel (Eric) Schulz, Russ and Amanda Ulrich and Brandon (Katie) Kluthe, Nicole Kluthe (fiancé Tim O’Hara) and Cody Kluthe; great-grandchildren, Karter Kluthe, Kaylee Kluthe and Logan and Wyatt Schulz; brothers, Alvin (Dona) of Columbus, and Gary (Dee) of Omaha; sisters, Kathy (Donald) Tomka of Dodge, Elaine (John) Drey of Pasadena, Texas; and sister-in-law, Jean Ernesti of Lincoln.
