Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Arlene Johnson - June 27, 2012
Funeral services for Arlene C. Johnson, age 81 of Fremont, formerly of Wisner, are Friday, June 29, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont, with a public prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner. Arlene passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at the AJ Merrick Manor in Fremont.Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include sons, Terry and wife Carol Johnson of Dodge, Randy and wife Mary Johnson of Omaha, Jay Johnson of Omaha; daughter, Beth and husband Neal Richard of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
