Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Helen Steven - July 11, 2012
Helen Hille Bonneau Steven, 83, a longtime resident of Lincoln, died peacefully on Sunday, July 8, 2012.Survivors include her husband, Jack Steven; daughters and their families: Jody Bonneau and Jeffrey Bell and sons Martin and Kevin of Naperville, IL; Nancy Bonneau Worth and Gregory Worth and daughters Bailey and Ella of Overland Park, KS; her step-daughters and their families: Suzanne Steven Byler of Beatrice; Sherril Steven Kilpatrick and George Kilpatrick and son Jay of Lincoln; Marche’ Steven Cepure and Paul Cepure and sons Nick and Zac of Lincoln; sisters and brothers in-law and 16 nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Helen’s giving spirit and desire to have everyone involved, the family hosted a party in her honor Wednesday, July 11, 2012. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be directed to the Lincoln Public School Foundation, the charity of your choice, or sent to Lincoln Family Funeral Home, 5844 Fremont Street, Lincoln, NE 68507.
