Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.
10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.
Arlington shuts down Seniors West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Berdine McGuire - August 22, 2012

Funeral services for Berdine McGuire, 90, of Wisner, were Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Interment of the cremains was in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Berdine Marie (Kaup) McGuire was born Dec. 20, 1921 to Fred and Catherine (Wieneke) Kaup at rural West Point. She went to heaven on Aug. 17, 2012 at the Elkhorn Valley Villas in Scribner.
Survivors include husband, John B. McGuire of Scribner; daughter, Janet Muhs of Sidney; daughters-in-law, Sharon McGuire of Bellevue and Betty McGuire of Wayne; grandchildren and families, Meagan and Dan Sollee of Ft. Collins, CO and children, Aston and Quinn; Craig and Ann Recker of San Antonio, TX and family; Scott Recker of Phoenix, AZ; Barb and Ted Taege of Lincoln and family; Bruce and Shelley Recker of North Mankato, MN and family; Todd Raasch of Denver, CO; Tricia and Jeff Messmer of WestonSprings, SD and family; Chad Raasch of Bellevue; Jeff Raasch of High Point, NC; Jaimie and Patrick Wilson of Omaha; Adam and Kristi McGuire of Lincoln; Jennifer Muhs and Mahmoud Abdalla of Berkeley Heights, NJ and children, Gigi, Selma and Noah; Mitch and Melissa Muhs of Sidney and children, Carson and Aiden; and sisters-in-law, Bernice Kaup of Dodge, Mary Jo McGuire of Omaha, Kathleen and Lew Frazier of Blackjack, MO.
She is also survived by her extended family at the Elkhorn Valley Villas and many nieces and nephews.
