Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Lorraine Hultquist - August 29, 2012
Lorraine A. Hultquist, 73, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Wedgewood Care Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Rev. Michael Reiners will officiate. Cremation will take place following the service and burial of ashes will be at a later date in the Mount Hope Cemetery at West Point.Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Gordon; sons and daughter-in-law, Brad and Jane Hultquist of Chandler, Ariz. and Mitch Hultquist of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Carol VonSeggern of West Point; grandchildren, Luke Hultquist, Anna Hultquist, Sarah Wilson and Tarah Wells.
