Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Diane Koester - September 05, 2012
Diane Kay Koester, 47, of Norfolk, formerly of Scribner, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk.Survivors include her mother, Marian Koester of Scribner; sister, Joann of Columbus; brother, Steve of Seward; niece Megan Koester; and great-nephew, Issac Koester.
A funeral will be Friday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Scribner. Rev. Bruce Schut will officiate. Burial will follow in the Scribner Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Asera Care Hospice and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at Ludvigsen’s Scribner Funeral Chapel on Thursday with the family present from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
