Family characteristics are often evident as sons and fathers gather for photos, when they speak, or in their actions.
Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.

10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award
Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.

Arlington shuts down Seniors
West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Warren Smith - September 26, 2012
Warren O. Smith of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away on Sept. 22, 2012, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland. Graveside services will be Sept. 28, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Grange Cemetery, rural Honey Creek, Iowa. There will be no visitation. Cutler O’Neill Funeral Home in Council Bluffs is in charge of arrangements. A light lunch will be served at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs following graveside services.Survivors include daughter, Linda and Paul Meyer of West Point; son, Craig and Idah Smith of Port Angeles, Wash; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Clark (Lauren, Alexandria, Jacob and Gabriella) of Omaha; Dan and Amanda Meyer (Hannah and Abigail) of Grand Island, Christy Smith and Mike Martin (Lauren, Madison and McKenzie) of Hixson, Tenn., and Kathryn Smith of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; granddaughter, Rachael Meyer; sister, Mildred Sheets; brother, Ray Smith; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Delane and Dorothy Witt.
Memorials may be directed to Oakland Heights Nursing Home inm Oakland, Neb.
