Family characteristics are often evident as sons and fathers gather for photos, when they speak, or in their actions.
Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.

10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award
Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.

Arlington shuts down Seniors
West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Barbara Wortman, 70, of Laughlin, Nev., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. A memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. Gerald Gonderinger as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. Thursday with public wake services at 7 p.m. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life.She is survived by her husband, Paul; sons, Joe (Mindy) of Omaha and John of Lincoln; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Carol Daniels of Warsaw, Mo., and Mary (Bob) Heldt of Albany, Ore.
