Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Steve Snyder - October 10, 2012
Steve Snyder, 58, of West Point, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital.Services were Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Chris Meier officiated. Burial was at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Stokely Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Grace Lutheran Church or Cuming Choraliers.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; daughter Amanda; parents, Milo and Patricia Snyder of Norfolk; brother, ValGene (Jan) Snyder of Jeffersonville, Ind.; sister, Pam (Ted) Case of Stanton; brother, Eric (Kim) Snyder of Wahoo; sister-in-law, Diane Snyder of Lenexa, Kan.; mother-in-law, Harriet Oist of Apple Valley, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Marge (Gary Fredricey) Oist of Apple Valley, Minn., and Marilyn (John) Fisher of Hillsboro, Ore.
