Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Funeral services for Helen B. Stigge, age 93, of Wisner were Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wisner. Interment was in the Wisner Cemetery.Helen passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the Wisner Care Center.
Survivors include daughters and families, LaRue and husband Frank Lahvic of Scottsdale, Ariz., Charlotte and husband Al Benes of Fremont and family, Mike and Deb Hurst and children Brian and Meghan, Steve and Amy Hurst and children Nathan, Sydney, Tyler and Courtney, Christine and Erik Haluzak and children Amelia and Coraline, Diann and husband Greg Bergt of Omaha and family, Matt and Heather Bergt and children Emerson, Dylan and Benjamin, Lisa and Chad Eisenmenger and son Colin, Troy and Shandra Bergt, Ross Bergt; sisters-in-law Lorna Peck of Paradise, Calif., Helene Stigge of Wisner and Ardyce Heinemann of Beemer.
Minnick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
