Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Ernest Schweitz - October 24, 2012
Ernest H. Schweitz, 94 years, of Oakland, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2012, at Oakland Heights in Oakland.He is survived by his sons, Ronald of Hendersonville, N.C., Terry (Christie) of Rockford, Ill., Arlan (Beth) of Elkhorn, Kenneth (Ximena) of Oconomowoc, Wis.; sixteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland. Military honors were by Ryan VFW Post No. 5543, American Legion Post No. 46. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Mark Eldal officiated. Memorials are suggested to First Evangelical Lutheran Church Oakland.
Pelan Funeral Services, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.
