Family characteristics are often evident as sons and fathers gather for photos, when they speak, or in their actions.
Lonnie and Twyla Schultz expected some traits of theirs to pass to their four children, but they didn’t expect to see their three sons wearing the same work uniform as their father.

10 local EMT’s earn Code Save award
Ten members of West Point Rescue received Code Save Awards at their monthly meeting last Wednesday.
The award is presented to EMS providers who saved a life during CPR and/or defibrillation. It is presented by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, EMS Program.

Arlington shuts down Seniors
West Point’s lack of offense left the American Legion Senior baseball team on the short end of a shutout setback to Arlington, losing 2-0 Monday evening at Anderson Field.
West Point managed just three hits off winning pitcher Mitch Thompson. Derek Grovijohn singled in the first inning, Cody Fischer in the third, and Trent Ortmeier in the fourth.

Willis “Willy” Wehenkel was born March 16, 1931, in West Point, the only child born to William and Elsie (Bleyhe) Wehenkel, and passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at his home near Milford, at the age of 81.Survivors include his children and spouses, Gary Wehenkel, Omaha, Dale and Audrey Wehenkel, Milford, Ron and Lori Wehenkel, Fremont, James and Mary Wehenkel, Auburn, and Mary Eggeling, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Wehenkel, Omaha, Mike Wehenkel, Chicago, Jenny (Matt) Roth, Milford, Tim Smith, also of Milford, Stacy (Scott) Walker, Founex, Switzerland, Travis Wehenkel, Minot, N.D., Shawn (Samantha) Wehenkel and Brandon (Leah) Wehenkel, both of Auburn, Jamie (Adrian) Lewandowski, Loup City, Jessica (Deke) Grauerholz, Memphis, NE; 20 great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Milford Mennonite Church. Pastor Tim Springer officiated with inurnment at St. Michaels Cemetery, West Point. Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren.
Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Milford, was in charge of arrangements.
