Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Alvin Otto Mohlfeld - November 21, 2012
Funeral services for Alvin Otto Mohlfeld, Nevada, MO, 75, were held on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Scott, KS with Rev. Stephen C. Sweyko officiating. Interment followed at National Cemetery also in Ft. Scott with full military honors. He passed away at his residence on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012.In addition to his wife Eileen, survivors include three sons, Clark Mohlfeld and his wife Connie, Wisner, Scott Mohlfeld and Cheri Milligan,
Liberal, MO, and Keith Mohlfeld and Lisa Jenkins, Columbus, KS; one daughter, Judy Evans and her husband Darryl, Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother Harvey Mohlfeld, Wayne; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
