Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Marie Samson - December 19, 2012
Marie Edna “Geisler” Samson passed away on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at the age of 76, after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at l p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Walthill. Pastor Ricky Jacob officiated. Burial will be at a later date.Marie is survived by her husband and children; two brothers, Orville and wife Betty Geisler of Denver, Colo., and Lester and wife Jeanette Geisler of Bancroft; one sister, Margaret and husband BJ Hammel of Mission, Texas and sister-in-law, Jean Geisler of Boise, Idaho, widow of Melvin Geisler; sister-in-law, Joan Samson, widow of Glen Samson; and brother-in-law, Vernon Samson both of Solomon, Md., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
