Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Gerald Hanneman - December 26, 2012

Gerald Hanneman was welcomed into everlasting life on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Funeral services were held at the Plainview Congregational Church, Plainview, on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012. Internment was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Norfolk; sister, Eileen Albin, Plainview, children, Gail, and his spouse, Susan; Marcus; Candace, and her spouse, Tom Ristow, all of Lincoln; and Craig, and his spouse, Rhonda, of West Point. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Laura, Elliott and Garrett Hanneman, children of Gail and Susan; Elizabeth (Hanneman) and her spouse, Cody Kromarek, and Richard Hanneman, children of Roger and Peggy; Nathaniel and his wife, Laurie of Wauwatosa, Wis.; Andrew and his wife Becky, James, Thaddaeus, and Simon Ristow, children of Candace and Tom, all of Lincoln; and Jenna, Tyler, Marissa, and Brett Hanneman, children of Craig and Rhonda. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, including Tucker, son of Jenna Hanneman of Wayne.
