Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25... West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

WP-B bids farewell to seniors West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Edward Wuestewald - January 02, 2013

Edward H. Wuestewald, 69, Fremont, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Nye 2012, at Nye Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Fremont. A funeral service was Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Father Ronald Battiato officiated. Burial was at Ridge Cemetery, Fremont with military honors by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post #854 and American Legion Post #20.
Memorials have been designated to aid Alzheimer’s Research.
Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen; sons, Anthony (Tony) Wuestewald and wife Karen of Fremont, Scott Wuestewald and wife Cherity of Omaha, Richard Wuestewald of Decatur; daughters, Mary Morris and husband Troy of Fremont, Rachel Kennebeck and husband Brian of Fremont, Crystal Stanek and significant other, David Knutson of Fremont, Rene Stoffregen of North Bend, Nichole Wuestewald of Fremont; sisters, Wilma Recker and husband Merlin of Fremont, Cecelia Franzluebbers of Beemer, Theresa Spenner and husband Vincent of Dodge; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Wuestewald of West Point; 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
