Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Services for Mary Ann Kovar Langhorst were held at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln. Mary Ann passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012.Memorials are suggested to the Catholic Charities.
She is survived by sons Edward Langhorst of Lincoln, Russ Langhorst of San Antonio, TX, Steve Langhorst of Clarkson, and Frank Langhorst of San Antonio, TX.; daughters: Catherine Langhorst of Denver, CO, Rose Schumacher of Layton, UT, Dianne Maggio of Dallas, TX, Gloria Pospisil of Morse Bluff, Bernadette Palaez of Castle Rock, CO, Iva Crane of Weatherford, TX, Carol James of Woodbridge, VA and Bonnie Winslow of Hudson, NH; sibling: Barb Grady of Houston, TX, 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
