Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Sophie Reznicek, 73, of Fremont, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Fremont Area Medical Center.A funeral Mass was Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father Ron Battiato officiated. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials may be directed to the Fremont Area Medical Center Foundation.
Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers, Fremont, was in charge of arrangements.
Sophie is survived by her husband, Bernie of Fremont; sons, Mark and wife Patty Reznicek of Omaha, Paul and wife Jodi Reznicek of Muscatine, Iowa, and David and wife Karla Reznicek of Waverly, Iowa; brother, Ralph and wife Linda Baumert of Dodge; sisters, Rita and husband Tom Maille of Omaha, and Shirley and husband Jim Kroenke of Fremont; grandchildren, Joshua, Eric, Nicole, Chelsea, Zach, Ben, Ellie, and Carson Reznicek.
