Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Donald Starr - January 23, 2013
Donald Gene Starr, 82, of West Point, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Trinity Church. Rev. Phil Fischer officiated. Burial with military honors was at Mount Hope Cemetery.Stokely Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores of West Point; daughter, Kimberly Stark of Omaha; son, David (Julie) Garrison of Ainsworth; sister, Elizabeth Dinslage of West Point; nephew, Roger (Pamela) Danielski of West Point; daughter-in-law, Nancy Starr of Omaha; son-in-law, Fred Larsen of Omaha; grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Lewis, Ashley Starr, Amy Starr, Derek (Katie) Danielski, Staci Danielski, Lane Garrison, Whitney Garrison, Sean Starr and Ronda Starr; great-grandchildren, Jenna Lewis, Joshua Lewis, Kya Danielski, and Aden Parker.
