Beemer’s Volunteer Fire Department made use of a perfect day Sunday for a practice burn. Firemen set an hold house on fire at the farm place of the late Marcella Belling, located on County Road 15, about 3.5 miles from Beemer. Basic fire practice, including entering a burning house, was conducted during the controlled burn.

Seventy-seven years ago Eddie Doescher took a chance and sold the only vehicle he owned and bought a truck. It marked the beginning of Doescher Transfer Company, located in Beemer.
Doescher’s family acknowledges that his initial investment proved to be a good one.

Lance Parsons searched for several years to find where his father was buried. He had lost contact with him through the years and knew he had died.
At about the same time as he was searching, Lance was also doing work on a directory for Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point.

It wasn’t by chance, but rather hard work and dedication that Bluejay senior Emily Petz evolved into a star sprinter.
It was also her love for the sport that allowed Petz to place a giant exclamation mark on her Central Catholic track career with four medals in four events at the 2013 state track and field meet held this past weekend at Omaha Burke.

On Jan. 26, 2013, services were held for Ottillie Margaret Kersch, 96. A graveside service was held at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, CA and a memorial service was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Brea, CA.Margaret Kersch passed away on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at her home in Fullerton, CA.
She is survived by her daughters Carolyn Adkison and Marylin Bowery; son-in-law Michael Bowery; four grandchildren, Scott David Stieber, David Allen Stieber and his wife Lindsay, Michelle Ann Paxton and Melanie Lynn Lawrence and her husband J.D.; five great grandchildren, Hayden Michael Paxton, Tyler David Stieber, Lilly Ann Stieber, Peyton Elizabeth Lawrence, Brooklyn Grace Lawrence, and Grace Eleanor Stieber; sisters-in law Marilyn Keller and Vivine Keller; nephews John Kersch and Byron Keller; and nieces Susie Grandinetti, Kristie Minzel, and Julie Visser.
