Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Allen “Al” Wagner, 64, of West Point died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. A funeral Mass was Friday, March 1, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Frank Lordemann officiated. Burial with military honors was at St. Michael’s Cemetery.Memorials are suggested to the West Point Sportsmen’s Club or St. Francis Memorial Hospital Cardiac Rehab.
Al is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Wendy (Craig) Wooldrik of West Point; son, Wade (Peggy) Wagner of West Point; grandchildren, Tory and Alex Wagner, and Colin, Macey, Ethan and Isaac Wooldrik; mother, Kathleen Wagner-Baer and stepfather, Boyd Baer of West Point; brothers, Rodney (Cindy) Wagner of West Point and Kevin (Dianne) Wagner of Fairbury; sister, Vicky Wagner of Carlsbad, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
