Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Marian Means - March 06, 2013
Marian Means, 91, of West Point, died Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Scribner Good Samaritan Center. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Chris Meier officiating. Private burial is at Mount Hope Cemetery in West Point. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church.Marian is survived by her daughter, Judy McDaniel of Corvallis, Ore.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Means of Omaha; two grandchildren, Matthew Means of Omaha, and Lori Means of Omaha; four great-grandchildren, Caitlin Means, Tyler Means, Jacob Means and Brynn Means, all of Omaha. Marian will also be fondly remembered by her beloved nieces and nephews, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
