Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Darrell Bruning - March 13, 2013
Funeral mass for Darrell Bruning, age 71, of Wisner, was held on Monday, March 11,2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner. Interment was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.Darrell passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Bruning of Wisner; children and their families: Mike and wife Sandra Bruning of San Marino, CA and children, Lauren, Allison and Nicole; Michelle and husband Mark Kreikemeier of Snyder and children, Whitney Waterman, Tyson Waterman and fiancée Tamara; Kris and husband Dwight Brahmer of Wisner, and children, Alex, Andrew, Adam and Ashley; David and wife, Susie Bruning, of Lincoln and daughter, Aubrey; Amy Bruning of Wisner; Anne and husband Gary McBride of Wisner and children, Ryan, Tyler and Aidan; Keri Tienken of Omaha; brothers and sisters: Don and wife Carol Bruning of Hartington; Dorothy and husband Bob Haage of Mead; Jerry and wife Marlyce Bruning of Coleridge; Chuck Bruning of Hartington; Carol Ann Wortmann of Hartington.
Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner handled the arrangements.
