Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Leland Enstrom - July 14, 2010
Leland Gene Enstrom, 82, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at the Oakland Nursing Home in Oakland. Funeral services were Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, Oakland. Rev. Richard Karohl officiated.Military honors were by the American Legion Post No. 46 and Ryan VFW Post No. 5543. Burial was at Westside Cemetery, rural Oakland.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel; daughter, Carol and Harold Lindstrom; son, Lon and Denise Enstrom all of Oakland; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Claire and Ardis Enstrom of Gretna; and sister-in-law, Viola Enstrom of Oakland.
Pelan Funeral Services, Oakland, was in charge of arrangements.
