Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Donald Herrmann - July 21, 2010
Funeral services for Donald “Don” Herrmann, 76, of Laurel, will be Thursday, July 22, 2010, at United Lutheran Church, Laurel. Rev. Marc Rakow will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hasemann Funeral Home, Laurel, with family present from 5 - 7 p.m. Interment will be at the Laurel Cemetery with military services.Donald died Monday, July 19, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Joy; children, Karla and Russ Koehler of Wausa, Mark and Missy Herrmann of Springfield, and Donna and Bill Miller of Newman Grove; six grandchildren; brother, Fred and Sharon Herrmann of West Point; sister, Judy and Terry Krueger of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Jeannette and Richard Metteer of Lincoln.
Memorials are suggested to United Lutheran Church
Arrangements were by Hasemann Funeral Home of Laurel.
