Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Waline Ropers - July 21, 2010
Waline H. Ropers, 86, of Holmesville, died Friday, July 16, 2010 at his home. A funeral service was Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Wymore. P.M.A. Ernie Waltke and Pastor Gerald Buss officiated. Burial was at the Blue Springs Cemetery.Survivors include two sons, Randy Ropers and Lanny Ropers, both of Holmesville; daughter, Lorilie and Mike Maxson of Valparaiso; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Kuester of West Point, and Katherine Thies of Omaha; a brother-in-law, Lynn and Harriett McKinzie of Beatrice; sister-in-law, Mildred McKinzie of Greeley, Colo.; special friends, Diana Ropers, Shawn Hager, and Jared Oestreich, all of Beatrice; Annette Ostrander of Sabetha, Kan; and Dale Pyle of Wymore.
Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home, Wymore, was in charge of arrangements.
