Pool prep continues, splashing to resume May 25...
West Point City employees Jim Peatrowsky and Dennis Wordekemper (not pictured) were finishing up some crack caulking around the swimming pool this morning (Wednesday). The pool was filled Monday and Tuesday. From now through Friday, May 24, lifeguards will be vacuuming dirt that settles at the bottom of the pool and making sure the water’s pH balance is correct.

West Point-Beemer’s Mackenzie Berg turns a little red while principal DJ Weddle shares a story about Mackenzie during Sunday’s graduation ceremony. It was a special day for Berg. Not only did she receive her high school diploma, it was also Berg’s birthday. WP-B had 62 graduates.
27 area kids off to Burke
A total of 27 area track athletes qualified for the 2013 State Track & Field meet this Friday and Saturday at Omaha Burke.
Qualifiers from each area school include: West Point-Beemer (3), Central Catholic (19), Scribner-Snyder (4) and Bancroft-Rosalie (1).

Harold Schimke - July 28, 2010
Harold Arthur Schimke, age 76, of Freistatt, Mo., died Saturday, July 24, 2010. A celebration of Harold’s life was held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt.In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Lutheran Braille Workers, or Trinity Lutheran School in Freistatt.
Survivors include three sons and four daughters and their spouses, David and Pamela of Phoenix, Ariz., Philip and Susan of Rocklin, Calif., Stephen and Debbie of Roseville, Calif., JoAn and Douglas Markworth of Chicago, Ill.; Janet and Simon Begley of Hannibal, Mo.; Jean and David Spree of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; and Jennifer and Jeremy Schmidt of Aurora, Mo.; eighteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, John and Carol of West Hills, Calif; and one sister-in-law, Barbara of Camden Point, Mo.
Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett. Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
