The City of West Point and the Cuming County Agricultural Society aren’t seeing eye-to-eye over the value of property the city needs so that the U.S. Corps of Engineers can begin work to shore up a portion of the city levee.
The city needs an easement from the Ag Society so the berm on the south side of the levee that runs on the north side of the fairgrounds in West Point can be extended roughly 100 feet. The berm (base of the levee) would start at about 4 feet nearest the levee and slope to a depth of about 2 feet.
