Derek Olson – one of two men who were sentenced in July to at least 40 years in prison for killing a rural Rosalie man in 2017 – has asked to appeal his case to the Nebraska Court of Appeals.

District Judge Mark Johnson sentenced Olson to 40-60 years in prison for second-degree murder and two to four years in prison for second-degree arson for the March 10, 2017, death of Ernest Warnock and the burning of his house.
