At first glance, the City of West Point’s local sales tax receipts from April looked to be stung hard by the coronavirus, which closed some businesses and forced others to cut hours of operation.

But a deeper look at the tax receipts received by the city this week shows that the main culprit was the result of people not having to pay taxes on motor vehicle purchases.
