A field of 63 applicants has been whittled down to just three for the currently vacant position of president at North East Community College.

NECC began accepting applications at the end of the last academic year, when the previous president Michael Chipps retired after 40 years in the field of education.

The three candidates recently named are, in alphabetical order, Leah Barrett, Lenny Klaver, and Charles Nwankwo.

Each of the finalists come from current leadership positions within college programs outside of Nebraska.
