A pretrial conference on Nov. 3rd was held in the matter of the State v. Jacob Kenney. Judge Mark A. Johnson heard the request for a continuance from Kenney’s attorney effectively changing the date of the jury trial from Nov. 21st to March 20, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.

Charges brought by the state include, Motor vehicle homicide-DUI, manslaughter, DUI-cause serious bodily injury, Theft-unlawful taking $5,000+, Fail to stop & render aid/serious injury or death, DUI-alcohol-1st offense, and Refuse to submit to test 1st offense.

These charges stem from a motor vehicle accident in May near Wisner that claimed the life of 38-year-old Tara Lantz. Kenney has plead not guilty to each of the charges.

Pretrial conference is continued to February 2, 2023, at the hour of 9:00 a.m., at which time defendant is ordered to appear.

The Court ordered that the defendant file his motion to suppress by November 18, 2022. The Court scheduled the motion to suppress/Jackson v. Denno hearing to be held on December 5, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at which time the defendant is ordered to appear. All other motions should be filed and scheduled by February 2, 2023.
