Hoop dance

Kaylee St. Cyr showed the Neihardt Day crowd a little of what she learned about hoop dancing this summer.

With the Sacred Hoop Prayer Garden in the background, John G. Neihardt was remembered Sunday as a man who overcame early hardships to become an acclaimed writer and Nebraska’s first poet laureate nearly 100 years ago.

The 55th annual Neihardt Day Celebration took place that afternoon on the lawn of the Neihardt State Historic Site in Bancroft.
