West Point Police Chief Mike Fisher’s last day on the job was Friday. He is retiring after serving 40 years with the police department, the last 26 as police chief.

When police officers pick up their radio to sign off for the last time after a career in law enforcement, it’s not unusual for them to say something a little extra other than “10-76,” which is the police code they give noting their shift for the day is over.

West Point Police Chief Mike Fisher went 10-76 for the final time Friday, but he was a man of few words in doing so.

“Going 10-76. Forever,” was his final words to the dispatch center.
