Howard to retire

Larry Howard’s work with livestock producers in Cuming County is one of the things he will miss in retirement.

Come next week, Larry Howard won’t have to wonder what might be lurking in a brown paper bag on his desk. He has seen snakes and other small critters he’s been asked to identify.

Nor will he have to help chase down a 4-H livestock project that escaped the confines of the fairgrounds and made its way across Highway 275 and almost to Highway 32 south of West Point.

Not surprisingly, he will miss instances like those that helped make his job as University of Nebraska Extension Educator enjoyable. Howard’s last day as an extension educator in Cuming County is Tuesday, March 31.
