Hillis and Claudia Mathes of Kennard stand beside their prized 1964 Pontiac Catalina convertible that won a Gold Award at a recent national show. The car will be at The West Point Car Show Sunday.

Hillis and Claudia Mathes have always had an eye for Pontiacs. Especially GTOs. But when Hillis spotted what was then a 19-year-old Pontiac Catalina convertible behind a body shop in Grand Island back in 1983 he knew he had to have it. And his wife was in total agreement.

“We had a 1964 Catalina convertible when we got married,” Claudia said. “But we traded it for a 1969 GTO. The GTO was great, but we regretted getting rid of that Catalina.”
