This year’s Veterans Day program in West Point will take place Friday morning, beginning at 9:30, at West Point-Beemer High School.

Guest speaker this year is Eric Nordby, Chief Warrant Officer 5, United States Army Reserve and current Command Chief Warrant Officer for the 85th Infantry Division.

Nordby has been in the Army Reserves for 28 years. He was deployed on three overseas tours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve.

CW5 Nordby has been awarded the Combat Action Badge, the Joint Meritorious Service Medal (2 Awards), the Bronze Star (2 awards), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Army Achievement Medal (2 awards), the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 Campaign Star) and the Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), and various other service awards.

He has been employed as an Omaha Police Officer since 1992 and is currently assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit.
