Betty J. Kassebaum, age 73 of West Point, Nebraska passed away Saturday the 20th of May, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa with her son by her side after a short illness. Funeral services were held on Wednesday the 24th of May at 2 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, Nebraska with Pastor Aaron Trimble officiating.
A visitation was held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service with family present during this time. The final resting and burial followed the service in the Mt. Hope Cemetery and a gathering of family and friends was held at the Kassebaum residence immediately after. All were welcome.
Betty J. Harris was born October 26, 1949 to Allen and Emma (May) Harris in Burwell, Nebraska. She graduated from Burwell High School and was united in marriage to Eldon D. “Red” Kassebaum on September 7, 1968. After Eldon returned from the military, Betty and Eldon made their home in Chadron, Nebraska for a year until a new job opportunity became available in West Point, Nebraska and they officially moved and made their home in West Point in 1970.
After moving to West Point, Eldon and Betty were blessed with two children, Casey and Lisa. They were Betty’s pride and joy and she loved her children dearly. Eldon and Betty even extended their arms as well to foster children to give them a loving home. Along with her children, Betty loved the Lord and truly shared His message to others. She is now with her beloved Lord enjoying the everlasting joy and love He promised along with peace and eternity. Betty is survived by her children, first born son Casey (Mary) of West Point and daughter Lisa of Lincoln; a sister Julia Morrow of Bridgeport, Nebraska; and a brother Melvin Harris of Broken Bow, Nebraska. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins along with a special friend Ashley Neesen to cherish her memories.
Betty is preceded in death by her loving husband “Red”; brother-in-law Bill Morrow; parents Allen and Emma Harris; and parents in law Bob and Eva Kassebaum.
