Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Mestl, age 88 of Beemer, was held Tuesday, August 31, 2021, the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, with Father Vincent Sunguti as Celebrant. Interment with military honors was in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Eugene passed away Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lavina of Beemer; children and their families:

Son, David Mestl of Indianola, and family: Anthony (Vicki) Mestl and children, Braxton and Kendly; Amber Kumpf and daughter, Baili;
Daughter, Doris and Paul Troyer of Laurel, and family: Erin (Dusty) Forre and children, Brooke, Allyx, Jace, and Cade; Laura (Kevin) Nordby and children, Nolan, Hadley, and Bennet; Amanda (Jacob) Haag and children, Ethan, Leah, and Ava;
Son, Michael and Tracy Mestl of West Point, and son, Milo Mestl;

Also surviving are a brother, Paul and Janet Mestl of Plattsmouth; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lumir and Marie Mestl; grandson, Joshua Borg; two infant siblings; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and William Meister.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation in Eugene’s name.
